I am very fortunate to meet Jim when I first started teaching nearly 25 years ago. Jim was a rare type in today's academic world. Everyone seems to do only what is best for himself/hershelf. Despite the fact that more emphases are placed on collaboration among colleagues. The genuine cooperation does not seem to exist. Jim was a true mentor, not just to his students and colleagues in his department. He is a mentor to all of us and I have certainly benefitted from his selfless generosity of encouragement and time and mentorship. We shall miss him and I know I will. My thought will be with your family.
